Unlike real-time surveillance systems, our engine is designed for retrospective investigation — taking footage or images captured during an incident and running them against a database built specifically for the business crime environment. Every potential match is reviewed by a qualified analyst before any output is produced.

We work with the quality of footage typically available in retail and commercial environments. Our analysts will assess whether submitted material is suitable before processing begins and advise on next steps if the quality falls below the threshold required for a reliable match.

How is the offender database built and maintained?

The database is built from verified intelligence submissions by member businesses and law enforcement referrals. Entries are reviewed, confirmed against additional intelligence sources, and regularly updated to reflect current activity across the UK business crime landscape.

Is the facial matching process legal?

Yes, subject to appropriate safeguards. We process biometric data under Schedule 1, Part 2 of the Data Protection Act 2018 (substantial public interest — prevention of unlawful acts) and Article 9(2)(f) UK GDPR (legal claims). A DPIA is in place. All processing is retrospective — we do not operate real-time identification systems.
