Facial Matching Engine
Put a name to a face. Identify prolific offenders across thousands of business crime records.
What We Offer
When an incident occurs, the most pressing question is often: who was responsible? The Facial Matching Engine answers that question by comparing submitted images against a curated database of thousands of the UK's most prolific and persistent business crime offenders.
Unlike real-time surveillance systems, our engine is designed for retrospective investigation — taking footage or images captured during an incident and running them against a database built specifically for the business crime environment. Every potential match is reviewed by a qualified analyst before any output is produced.
Successful identifications support police referrals, civil recovery claims, and longer-term intelligence profiles. A single match can link an offender across multiple sites, reveal patterns of behaviour, and materially change the outcome of an investigation.
What's Included
Every engagement is tailored to your organisation, but these are the core capabilities that underpin our Facial Matching Engine service.
Thousands of known offenders drawn from real intelligence submissions and verified law enforcement referrals — built specifically for the business crime environment.
Designed for investigation and intelligence purposes, not real-time surveillance. Submit incident footage and receive identification results reviewed by a qualified analyst.
Every potential match is assessed by a qualified professional before output is produced — no automated decision-making, no risk of an unreviewed result reaching a client.
Connect incidents across different locations and client sites using the same subject. A match in one area can unlock intelligence across a much wider footprint.
Identification reports formatted and structured to support formal police referrals and court proceedings, produced in line with evidential standards.
Biometric data processed under a documented lawful basis with a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) in place. All processing is conducted responsibly and transparently.
Sectors We Serve
Our Facial Matching Engine service is used by businesses across a wide range of sectors facing business crime in its various forms. If your sector isn't listed, get in touch — we work with any business that needs specialist crime intelligence support.
FAQs
What image quality is required for a submission?
We work with the quality of footage typically available in retail and commercial environments. Our analysts will assess whether submitted material is suitable before processing begins and advise on next steps if the quality falls below the threshold required for a reliable match.
How is the offender database built and maintained?
The database is built from verified intelligence submissions by member businesses and law enforcement referrals. Entries are reviewed, confirmed against additional intelligence sources, and regularly updated to reflect current activity across the UK business crime landscape.
Is the facial matching process legal?
Yes, subject to appropriate safeguards. We process biometric data under Schedule 1, Part 2 of the Data Protection Act 2018 (substantial public interest — prevention of unlawful acts) and Article 9(2)(f) UK GDPR (legal claims). A DPIA is in place. All processing is retrospective — we do not operate real-time identification systems.
